Larsen & Tourbo (L&T) has agreed a contract with Norway-based electrolyzer technology HydrogenPro AS to establish a manufacturing unit in India that focuses to tap possibilities in green hydrogen space in the nation and other geographies, the Indian engineering major stated in a statement on January 27.
According to the memorandum of understanding L&T and HydrogenPro will jointly work towards setting up of a gigawatt-scale production unit for alkaline water electrolyzers based on HydrogenPro technology. Last December, L&T tied up with Nasdaq-listed ReNew Power to jointly develop, own, execute and operate green hydrogen projects in India.
“The energy industry is undergoing a tectonic shift with Green Hydrogen emerging as a key fuel in the future energy basket. We are delighted to have signed this MoU with HydrogenPro,” said Mr. S.N Subrahmanyan, CEO& MD, L&T.
Green Hydrogen demand in India is estimated to grow up to 2 MMTPA by 2030 in line with nation’s Green Hydrogen Mission, which would call for investments upward of $60 billion.
