The statement issued by Egypt’s Environment Ministry highlighted that innovative projects developed by the Egyptian Universities will be presented at the COP27 summit which is going to be held in November this year.
The statement came after the Ministers of Environment and the Higher Education sat for a meeting and discussed the COP27 preparations & progress.
Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar emphasised the significance of science and researchers in developing effective strategies and measures to combat the impacts of climate change. He also added the importance of having a framework to achieve the sustainable development goals aligned with the climate action.
The Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad announced that the Education Ministry will strengthen the COP27 conference financially through the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, the Science, Technology and Innovation Funding Authority, and the Fund for Innovators and Geniuses.
He further added that the involvement of the youth and the Universities is crucial in the upcoming climate change conference to achieve the climate action targets.
