Many civilians have been staging protests in the streets of Jakarta, Indonesia against the ignorance of people's demands to end the ongoing deforestation. On Friday the rally was held following the Indonesian environment minister's criticism of a global plan to end deforestation by 2030.

According to him, the attempt to decline carbon emissions was stated “unfair” and at odds with the country’s development plans. Environmentalists are concerned about the government's response to the carbon and GHG reduction, considering Indonesia holds one-third of the world's rainforest and rich biodiversity.
Greenpeace Indonesia has been staging several campaigns against the extorting policies of development that supports capitalism and denies the rights of communities that have been living off the forests.
On Monday, more than 100 countries promised to halt and reverse forest depletion and land degradation by 2030 and pledged $19bn in public and private funds to invest in preserving and restoring forests.
Nations like Brazil, Russia, Indonesia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo joined in the statement. It was considered an essential commitment by these nations as they account for 85 percent of the world’s forests.
