India is the world’s third-largest hub of startups after the United States and China. The report titled Climate Finance for CleanTech startups revealed that from January 2022 more than 61,000 new startups have officially registered in the country. Based on the current rate of India’s renewable energy capacity development, there is an urgent need to escalate this sector. To tackle the current trend of climate change and minimize carbon emissions India must promote its dependency on renewable sources.  The study suggests that  CleanTech startups and the IT sector are integral resources to boost the same.

The report said, “India should enable the startup community to play its part towards meeting India’s targets. Currently, most of the startups in India are concentrated in the IT sector with most in the clean-tech sector either in renewable energy or EVs”.
