India and France have promised to cooperate in the fight against climate change by ensuring that technologies are developed together and shared. Both the countries held talks last week while the Indian prime minister was visiting France.
With the climate in the issued joint statement both the countries have stressed their support for the International Solar Alliance(ISA) which is a joint initiative of India and France, it was conceived in 2015 at the COP21 to mobilize effort against fossil fuel-based energy and accelerate the growth of solar energy in member nations.
Taking a step forward in this direction India has invited France to participate in making India the hub of Green Hydrogen production under the National Hydrogen Mission. India and France also adopted the Indo-Pacific Parka Partnership in Feb this year which is aimed at developing protected natural areas in the Indo-Pacific region. Both countries are also going to adopt a new roadmap for Blue Economy and Ocean Governance and are also putting up policies to curb ocean plastic pollution.
"India and France go back a very long time in terms of their partnership on environment conservation, climate action etc," Vinay Kwatra, Foreign Secretary told reporters at a briefing after Modi-and Macron held talks.
