Ground-Based And Floating Renewable Energy Projects Underway In Tripura

The National Thermal Electricity Corporation Limited (NTPC) and the Tripura government's power department have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the development of floating and ground-based renewable energy projects in Tripura.

According to reports, the MoU is for the development of large-scale renewable energy projects in Tripura and will aid the Tripura government in fulfilling its commitments and obligations related to clean energy. The MoU is for the development of floating and ground-mounted based renewable energy projects in Tripura.


MoU For Renewable Energy

On January 16 in New Delhi, NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd (NTPC REL) and the Government of Tripura signed an agreement for the development of floating and ground-based renewable energy projects in the state. 


Rajiv Gupta, Chief General Manager of NTPC REL, and Mahananda Debbarma, Director General and CEO of the Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency, signed the Memorandum of Understanding. Jishnu Dev Varma, the minister of power for Tripura, and Dr. Manik Saha, the state's chief executive, were present in New Delhi at the signing of the MoU.


After the MoU is signed, floating and ground-mounted solar projects will be installed in the reservoir and adjacent vacant submergence land, ground-mounted solar projects will be installed in any other vacant state-allocated land with or without a storage facility, and opportunities for renewable energy project developments will be investigated as may be mutually agreed upon between the two parties for Tripura's decarbonization and energy transition.
