On the occasion of World Earth Day, Google has implemented an innovative way to showcase the impacts of climate change on the planet. Google has placed the real images taken each December annually from 1986 to 2020 of different geographical locations and highlighted the climate change impacts with a timelapse.
These locations include Glacier retreat at the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa, Sermersooq Glacier retreat in Greenland, Great Barrier Reef in Australia and Harz Forests in Germany, these all have witnessed drastic consequences due to the ongoing climate change catastrophe.
The global search engine calls out for action on the occasion of World Earth Day in its official blog and said, "Acting now and together to live more sustainably is necessary to avoid the worst effects of climate change".
Earth Day was first initiated on April 22nd 1970 by Senator Gaylord Nelson this day to force this climate change issue onto the national agenda and since then every year World Earth Day is celebrated globally to address the agenda for environmental protection.
