Murmu notes that the fact that India is holding the G20 presidency this year is evidence of the respect India has earned on the global stage, which has opened up new opportunities and responsibilities. She claimed that the G20 presidency is an opportunity to advance democracy and multilateralism. According to Murmu, India faces a problem because fossil fuels are what drive the economic expansion required to help more people escape poverty. She emphasized that the poor are more severely affected by global warming than other groups, and that developed countries must provide emerging economies with financial assistance and technology transfer.
In order to protect the vulnerable planet for future generations, the President emphasized the need for us to change our lifestyles. She suggested switching to coarse grains, like millet, which are healthier for the environment because they require less water to grow while still providing substantial nutrition, protecting the environment, and promoting our physical and mental wellbeing.
She asserted that while there was still work to be done in order to realize Mahatma Gandhi's vision of "Sarvodaya," or the upliftment of all, there had been encouraging economic progress, particularly in overcoming challenges following the Covid-19 outbreak. She claims that India, one of the largest and fastest-growing economies in the world, has benefited from the government's prompt and proactive responses.
