Starting in 2019, Air Company had one aim– to turn carbon dioxide into useful products. Carbon dioxide accounts for about 79% of the greenhouse gases that human activities emit.
Air Vodka, the most popular among its products, is made from carbon dioxide. It is made by capturing carbon dioxide and purifying it to push out impurities and turning it into ethanol in water. It gives a 40% alcohol mixture by volume, and is sold across America. The company is now expanding, from alcohol to hand sanitizers, perfumes and is engaged with NASA in producing sugars and protein from carbon dioxide. The company’s technology produces 10% ethanol in water by volume and then uses a method that is trade secret to convert it into 96.5% ethanol in water.
“Our company’s priority is to utilize as much CO2 as possible to slow the momentum of climate change, using consumer goods in the near term as our educational tool to show the world what is possible,” the company says on its website.
