On March 12, the Hindu community of Jowai celebrated the opening of the Kambel Shullai Eco-Friendly Crematorium. The facility, located in Khliehtyrshi, is a collaboration between the Jowai Municipal Board and the Hindu Samaj Committee.
This project, funded by the 15th Finance Commission Award and generously sponsored by Dorbar Shnong Khliehtyrshi, exemplifies the community's commitment to unity as well as environmental care.
Wailadmiki Shylla conducted the inauguration event, which was attended by a number of luminaries, including Philanderwell Lyngdoh and JHADC Executive Member Lakhon Dkhar. Shylla highlighted the importance of environmental conservation and promised additional measures to help minority communities.
Plans for an electric cremation were also unveiled, providing the community with more ecologically friendly options. The celebration closed with statements from community leaders and a vote of thanks from JMB's CEO, DV Lyngdoh.
