India's first Greenfield Smart City is located on the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, built on both sides of Expressway 741. This highway will shrink the travelling time from Ahmedabad to Dholera to less than an hour. The plan of developing it was charted out by the central government in 2009 and was promoted by former Chief Minister of Gujarat and Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi to make Dholera SIR as the most advanced city in India, centred around the idea of sustainability and environmental harmony.
In the city of Dholera which is near the sea, the Smart Homes team believed that it would be a good fit to be developed into a sustainable one, and started working in that direction of making the city a smart green city.
