While rain is forecasted to bring some relief, the Uttarakhand Forest Department is taking proactive measures to curb the fires. This includes a ban on burning forest fodder, a common practice believed to be contributing to wildfires.

The wildfires, ongoing for months, continue to swallow the green cover of the Himalayan hill state. Since November 1, 2023, a total of 1,145 hectares of forests have reportedly been destroyed in 910 forest fire incidents. The situation in Uttarakhand highlights the devastating consequences of wildfires. It is crucial to raise awareness about responsible forest practices to prevent such tragedies in the future.
