The Climate Change Summit is set to make its return to Bucharest, Romania, in October for its second edition. Positioned as the largest event in Central and Eastern Europe dedicated to climate change, the summit aims to bring together influential leaders in climate innovation, environmental policy, researchers, entrepreneurs, and government officials in pursuit of actionable solutions for a sustainable future.
Scheduled for October 19-20, the event will focus on various critical topics, including sustainable financing, the role of startups in combating climate change, sustainable solutions in energy, agriculture, and the food industry, the circular economy, the latest technologies, and the significance of biodiversity. With an impressive lineup of 60 speakers, the summit boasts an array of global leaders, experts, and entrepreneurs in the field. Notable individuals include Elina Bardram, Head of International Relations Unit at DG Climate, European Commission; Hans van der Loo, President of the Institute of Integrated Economic Research; Linda Zeilina, CEO and founder of The International Sustainable Finance Centre (ISFC); Peter Elwin, Head of the Food & Land Use program at Planet Tracker; Georgia Elliott Smith, Managing Director of Element Four; Paolo Piffaretti, CEO of Carbon X; François Bloch, CEO of BRD Groupe Société Générale; Céline Coulibre-Duménil, CSR Director at Auchan Retail International; and Flavia Popa, Secretary General of BRD Groupe Société Générale.
The event is organized by Social Innovation Solutions, with support from BRD Groupe Société Générale. The summit aims to provide a platform for fruitful discussions, knowledge sharing, and collaboration, enabling participants to develop effective strategies and solutions to address the challenges posed by climate change. In its inaugural edition held in October 2022, the Climate Change Summit attracted more than 70 global speakers and approximately 1200 participants. The event featured engaging sessions, discussions, and debates focusing on future climate challenges and transformations in energy, the food chain, cities, and policies. Additionally, nearly 1 million people worldwide watched the live broadcasts of the summit on platforms like Twitter and YouTube.
