Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched 100 new CNG-powered buses in Guwahati on Sunday, as well as the city's first CNG fuel station. According to a release from the Chief Minister's Office, the Assam State Transport Corporation will operate these air-conditioned, fire-detection, and GPS-equipped buses that Guwahati Smart City Limited purchased as part of its Smart City Mission.
According to the Chief Minister, the launch of the CNG-powered buses and the opening of the CNG fueling station marked a step toward the gradual but effective reduction of the effects of climate change and global warming.
Initiative By Assam CM To Fight Climate Change
The Chief Minister stated that one of the main causes of the trend of global warming is the excessive use of fossil fuels like gasoline and diesel. He added that the carbon emissions from using these sources of energy were causing climatic imbalances in many regions of the world, including Assam.
He said that it was crucial that everyone work together to reduce the effects of climate change and come up with a long-term, permanent solution, and that clean, green energy, like compressed natural gas, held the solution to the issue.
In addition, the Chief Minister noted that large cities throughout the globe have already seen a sizable transition to sustainable energy sources in several regions. The State will ensure that it contributed to the nation's commitments to capping carbon emissions through the progressive switch to clean and green fuel in Guwahati's public transportation system.
