The Egyptian Environmental Minister Yasmine Fouad launched the first national dialogue on climate change. The Ministry of Environment issued a statement after the commencement of the first session held on Sunday.
As per the statement, the aim of these sessions is to raise awareness about climate change and its impacts on humans and the environment. The discussion point in the sessions is also focused on the mitigation aspect. The innovative ideas and technologies which can help in the conservation of water and energy were discussed in the first session.
The initiative is launched in the preparation for this year’s UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) which is going to be held in Cairo. Apart from the Climate change dialogue, Egypt has been taking steps such as adopting 300 electric buses and increasing the use of solar energy in the city’s hotels to achieve the climate change goals by 2030.
