In an attempt to promote solar energy in the city, the Alexandrian government renewed its program ‘Solarize Alexandria’. The program is aimed to make a smooth shift by making it much more affordable for residents and businesses to install solar power systems on their properties. The campaign was launched back in 2014 and is ready to be rolled out from April 1 to June 30 for its eighth season this year.
Under the program, a registered property owner will get a free virtual solar site assessment for their property. The professionals will evaluate the viability of the premises and after the successful evaluation, qualified personnel will conduct further installation procedures. The govt. is also offering a property tax exemption as an incentive for residential property owners who opt for solar energy equipment.
The city is also providing 240-volt electric vehicle charging equipment at discounted rates that provides 20 miles of range per hour of charging time to beneficiaries. Virtual informational sessions are planned for interested citizens to further provide details of the program.
