Hydrogen plays an important role for many sectors, yet creating it from fossil fuels emits tonnes of CO2 each year. To counter this, Hygenco, a Haryana-based green hydrogen business, plans to build India's first green hydrogen plant in Maharashtra. This plant aims to produce hydrogen without emitting carbon dioxide, in accordance with India's renewable energy ambitions.
Amit Bansal, CEO of Hygenco, addresses India's energy difficulties and the importance of adopting green hydrogen. Green hydrogen can boost energy independence, contribute to net-zero goals, create jobs, and save foreign funds spent on fossil fuel imports.
Hygenco intends to develop a 10 GW green hydrogen capacity by 2030, with the goal of altering traditional fuel usage. Their collaboration with Sterlite Technologies Ltd highlights the increasing acceptance of green hydrogen in commercial areas such as glass manufacturing.
With sustainability at its core, Hygenco's journey marks a watershed point in India's greener, more sustainable energy future, promoting both economic growth and environmental preservation.
