The "Dump and Donate" initiative involves educating the public through a number of institutions, schools, and other channels about e-waste and its harmful impacts on the environment and human health. It is marketed as the largest e-waste collecting effort and was launched by Lions Club International in partnership with Hindustan E-Waste Management Pvt Ltd and the National Independent Schools Alliance (NISA).

E-Waste One Of Nation’s Problems

After realizing the significance of E-Waste management, various ministries have cleaned out their stocks of electronic waste. "It (the e-waste collecting program) is a vital endeavor taken up at this time with India taking up the Presidency of the G20," Union Education Minister Subhas Sarkar remarked at the launch.

People will be encouraged to contribute their e-waste during the drive through sentimental ads and partnerships with businesses and educational institutions. The program will be implemented in several Indian areas and have a significant impact on the country's e-waste management procedures.

The gadgets that can still be used and are recoverable will be repaired and provided for community education, while the e-waste that cannot be repaired will be recycled to extract precious metals.

Collaboration For Awareness & Collection

The recycling partner Hindustan E-Waste (HEW), organizes scrap recovery and recycling and concentrates on the collection and storage of e-waste, segregation of e-waste in accordance with government standards, functional testing, dismantling, data deletion, and disposal of end-of-life devices.

According to AP Singh, the International Third Vice President of Lions Clubs, "we have planned this campaign in a unique manner, keeping social commitment at the forefront."

Through this month-long effort, Lions Club International members will engage with the public through a variety of institutions, schools, and other venues to raise awareness of e-waste and its detrimental effects on human health and the environment. Additionally, HEW will assist with the collection campaign and donate to Lions Clubs an amount equal to the amount of collected e-waste.
