The Municipal Corporation of Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ) has begun the operation of door-to-door waste collection in zone II after beginning it in zone I. The project intends to improve the hygienic conditions of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri, two twin cities.
The 22 wards have been split into two zones by the MCYJ, with 11 wards in each zone. The effort began in zone-I, which includes Wards No. 1 to No. 11, about a month ago. Two separate private businesses have been contracted to handle the waste collection for two zones.
On Monday, garbage collection from door to door began in zone II, which includes wards 12 to 22. Mayor Madan Chauhan waved off tippers from the garbage disposal facility in Aurangabad. All tippers, tractor-trailers, and rehris dispersed after the ceremony in preparation for rubbish pickup from each ward.
"Door-to-Door" Waste Collection Initative
According to information, for door-to-door rubbish collection, the company operating in zone II has deployed 51 tippers, 11 tractor-trailers, 20 rehris, and other vehicles. Additionally, other equipment has been put to use to remove waste from highways and streets, empty dustbins, and elevate garbage piles. Additionally, each tipper has a GPS tracker installed to keep track of the vehicle's whereabouts. The business that had been given the job of disposing of trash in zone II, according to Mayor Chauhan, was ordered to increase the number of vehicles deployed in order to prevent any shortcomings and for greater efficiency.
"The task of door-to-door waste collection would be done every day in all 11 wards in zone II with the assistance of more than 150 people," added Chauhan. He continued by saying that the business had been instructed to collect dry and wet rubbish from each door individually. "The rubbish will be disposed of at the Aurangabad Garbage Disposal Plant upon collection. Machines will be used at the plant to prepare the organic manure. Additionally, the staff members of the company will recycle garbage and e-waste there, according to Chauhan.
