During his Gujarat visit, PM Modi inaugurated the Miyawaki forest near the Statue of Unity in Gujarat’s Ektanagar. This is a special type of forest that was discovered by Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki. Miyawaki forest in Kevadiya, Gujarat has been developed to reduce the impact of climate change and to increase tourism as a tourist destination. The forest has been developed on a site which was originally used as a 'dumping site'.
Miyawaki Forest has been developed in an area of about two acres. This includes an indigenous flower garden, timber garden, fruit orchard, medicinal garden, separate section of mixed species, and digital orientation centre.
Along with the Miyawaki forest, PM also inaugurated a Maze garden. According to the official press release by the PIB, "This newly connected maze garden spread over three acres with a route of 2,100 meters is the largest maze garden in the country and has been developed in a short span of just eight months."
"It has been made in the shape of a 'yantra' which radiates positive energy," the release said. Travelling through the convoluted streets of this park will be challenging for the mind, body and senses of the tourists.
