Orchids the International School (OIS), one of India's top K–12 school chains, has begun a mission to collect e-waste throughout the institution. The school network has teamed up with Z Enviro Industries Pvt Ltd to educate students about the e-waste management process and how they can help identify e-waste goods and contribute to the recycling of e-waste by comprehending the segregation process and disposal.
OIS will be collecting e-waste from students in all Grades in its schools with the aim of fostering the best recycling practices among its pupils. Items classified as e-waste include, among other things, outdated or damaged laptops, PCs, Tabs, mice, speakers, batteries, power banks, chargers, stoves, grinders, TVs, headphones, CDs, and old mobile phones. The partner recycling company from that city will thereafter get these items. The school’s branches in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, and Hyderabad collectively collected almost 500 kg of e-waste products in the past month with 35000 pupils taking in the campaign.
