The revamped dumping ground is situated at Kopar Khairane of Navi Mumbai and has become a habitat for several species of snakes, birds and butterflies etc. The land has sprawling thousands of lush green trees growing 15-20 feet tall.

Abhijit contacted a Mumbai based NGO, Green Yatra to execute this project as they have a prior experience in a similar domain. While talking to the Better India IAS officer highlighted that they decided to choose this area as it is situated adjacent to the creek and sewage treatment plant. “We decided to use the recycled water from STP to water the plants”, he said. He also mentioned that it was an ideal place as it poses less disturbance to the biodiversity and allows mangrove vegetation to flourish.
