According to a statement, "under the MOU, both entities have joined forces to ensure regular exchange of knowledge, advice, information, innovation, policy, and regulatory developments in the carbon market; and enhance the development of renewable energy projects to offset emissions with a strong focus on community development."

Climate Action Gaining Momentum

The National Emissions Trading Scheme and the development of the Indian carbon market are just two of the positive steps that India is taking on its path to net zero, according to CMAI President Manish Dabkara. Climate action is also gaining momentum globally, and its effects are positive in India as well (ETS).

According to Jeevan Kumar Jethani, Executive Director of AREAS, the government has declared attaining net zero by 2070, which calls for emission management and reduction. Carbon emission trading, aided by a strong carbon market, gives flexibility in meeting emission reduction targets.

Jethani further stated that the goal is to improve this transformation, produce additional RE and GHG mitigation projects, promote grid-connected and off-grid renewable energy, mentor a broader number of associates about climate change & carbon neutrality, and quicken the net-zero trip.
