Hyderabad based startup ‘Caro’ developed its one of a kind paper box that can store drinking water. The unique initiative was started by two former IT professionals who left their jobs to combat the problem of plastic waste.
India’s first eco-friendly drinking water box is made from corrugated paper and a ‘BIB’ (bag-in-box) system which is tamper-proof. About 480 billion plastic bottles are sold every year globally resulting in the piling of the massive amount of plastic waste, Caro Water claims to combat this problem by reducing 85% of plastic consumption with their product.
The box has an inbuilt tap and can be used as a water dispenser, consumers can order water boxes through their app and can also opt for a subscription for regular deliveries. The startup also practices a take-back model to responsibly recycle the water box in exchange for a monetary incentive.
