The session focused on enhancing international cooperation in social development issues, with the priority theme centered on fostering social development and social justice through social policies to accelerate progress on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and achieve the overarching goal of poverty eradication.

During India's stewardship, four resolutions were adopted, addressing various aspects such as promoting care and support systems for social development and the social dimensions of the New Partnership for Africa's Development. Kamboj emphasized the Commission's pivotal role in tackling global social challenges and driving meaningful progress.

India's tenure marked a significant milestone, as it was the country's first time holding the esteemed position since 1975. The Commission, a crucial intergovernmental platform under the Economic and Social Council, fosters dialogue and international cooperation on social development matters. Kamboj extended a warm welcome to Poland as the incoming Chair for the 63rd session in 2025, as member states lauded India's effective leadership and substantive contributions during the session.
