IIT Delhi and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) India have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on solutions for promoting sustainable development, with a particular emphasis on the environment, energy, and climate change.
The partnership's goal is to create and promote innovative and scalable solutions that will aid in the transition to low-carbon and climate-resilient pathways through policy and implementation. Climate change adaptation, loss and damage mitigation, boosting national innovation systems to accomplish the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the use of digital solutions for the transition to green energy and other climate technologies are all important areas of cooperation.
The alliance aims to advance the sustainable development agenda in the Global South by establishing and strengthening global knowledge networks.
Professor Rangan Banerjee, Director of IIT Delhi, expressed his delight in the collaboration, emphasizing the significance of climate change adaptation and sustainable development. Ms. Isabelle Tschan, Resident Representative, a.i., UNDP India, reaffirmed the organization's commitment to accelerating climate action, highlighting the partnership's potential to leverage new research and technology-driven solutions for climate action and energy sustainability.
The three-year MoU aims to catalyze substantial change and drive projects toward a greener, more resilient world.
