This has worsened the condition of the cattle industry as they were already impacted by the drought and the rising feed costs due to the Russia-Ukraine war. As per the data, Kansas is the third-largest cattle state after Texas and Nebraska with more than 2.4 million cattle on farms.

The Kansas Livestock Association’s spokesperson Scarlett Hagins expressed her concern over the shocking event and said that the sudden rise in the temperature and humidity has disappeared the cooling winds and hence the animals could not adapt to the unbearable heat stress.

According to the weather reports the state witnessed the temperature reaching the 42 degrees Celsius mark during the weekend and allegedly the extreme heatwave turned out deadly for the animals.
