The national capital Delhi earned the second spot with 1,25,347 registrations, Karnataka has 72,544, Bihar has 58,014 and Maharashtra has 52,506 EV registrations.

These EV registrations include two- and three-wheelers and it has been noted that due to the widespread use of E-rickshaws in UP, the state has managed to receive the highest numbers.

The experts claim that the new EV policies and subsidies are one of the reasons behind this sudden shift towards electric vehicles. Delhi government’s EV policies offer a purchase incentive of Rs. 5,000 per kWh of the battery motoring the EVs, with the maximum incentive amount capped at Rs. 30,000 per vehicle and subsidies schemes such as FAME II has surged the electric scooter sales in the capital. Karnataka is presently the hub of EV startups and big EV companies like Ather are based out of Bengaluru is helping to boost the state’s EV ecosystem.
