The Department of Management Studies at the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) in Awantipora, India, recently hosted a webinar on "e-waste management," in collaboration with Karo Sambhav, an organization promoting sustainable and responsible practices. This event brought together experts, faculty, students, and participants from diverse backgrounds to address the crucial issue of managing electronic waste effectively.
Omkar Ganu, a Senior Specialist at Karo Sambhav, delivered the keynote address, highlighting the challenges and potential solutions associated with e-waste management. He emphasized the growing volume of electronic waste and its harmful impacts on the environment and human health if not disposed of responsibly.
Professor Parvez A. Mir, Dean and Head of the Department of Management Studies, underscored the critical role of e-waste management in contemporary society. He stressed the need for developing sustainable practices to mitigate the environmental and health risks associated with electronic waste and highlighted the economic opportunities associated with responsible e-waste recycling.
