The World Sustainable Energy Days 2024 (WSED) conference brought together over 650 professionals from 60 nations to debate renewable energy alternatives and climate neutrality. Retrofitting, energy communities, renewables, and energy efficiency were among the topics discussed.
The ManagEnergy Initiative, financed by the LIFE Programme, held workshops on sustainability issues such as retrofitting and renewable energy. Anette Jahn demonstrated how LIFE supports projects for a climate-neutral Europe, highlighting the importance of cities and regions.
LIFE DEESME 2050 and LIFE EENOVA were two projects that highlighted innovative ideas. DEESME 2050 aims to enhance energy efficiency in the furniture business, whereas EENOVA focuses on energy improvements in food processing, with large energy savings and the use of renewable energy.
EENOVA garnered understanding at WSED for its approach to the food industry. Anna Comacchio stressed the EU's leadership in industrial decarbonisation innovation. Anette Jahn noted the importance of European firms in the energy transition, highlighting the role of programmes such as LIFE Clean Energy Transition in facilitating market development.
