Indian businesses have ranked fifth in a survey, on their concern for climate change and Indian companies are more likely to be implementing tougher climate actions compared with their global counterpart, advisory firm Deloitte said in a report.
The report shows two aspects of the fight against climate change, first the alarming nature of the situation, and second, how optimistic people are about their collective effort being fruitful. Deloitte asked business executives around the world about the climate crisis and efforts being made to curb it; in Jan-Feb(2021) and then again in Sep-Oct(2021).
Here is how they answered, almost 79% of executives see the world at a tipping point for responding to climate change compared to just 59% eight months ago. And 88% agreed that with immediate action, we can limit the worst impacts of climate change, eight months ago the number was 63%. And almost all of them (97%) agreed that climate change is going to affect their business either very severely or moderately.
“The battle against climate change isn’t a choice, it’s billions of choices. No action is insignificant, but certain activities and decisions “move the needle” more than others.” says Punit Renjen, the CEO of Deloitte Global.
