After the announcement of the E-waste management app by the NDMC, Delhi is pushing further the accessibility of efficient E-waste management systems. The Delhi government is planning to set up eco parks for large-scale application of recycling of E-waste.
A park like is needed for technically and environmentally safe dismantling, recycling, and refurbishing of electronic waste accumulated in the city. Delhi generates around 200,000 tonnes of e-waste on an annual basis. It includes everything from home appliances, computers, electronic items, accessories and mobile phones, and others. Some sites produce less and some are basically storehouses of electronic garbage.
The idea of the park was discussed in a meeting, where the Chairman was the L-G and it was held on Wednesday. The concrete plan is yet to be finalized also the location, but the draft has been discussed and circulated. Chief Minister Manish Sisodia also attended the meet along with environment minister Gopal Rai and urban development minister Satyendar Jain. Other attendees included top officials of the Delhi government, municipal corporations and the Delhi Development Authority (DDA).
