Chinese President Xi Jinping decided to stay absent from attending the 26th Conference of Parties or cop26 being held in Glasgow UK. This was looked upon by many nations as an objectionable political gesture from China.
US President Joe Biden commented in his closing remarks, that China made a big mistake and that people will wonder what value they added to the biggest and most important Climate conference right now.
According to Biden, China missed out on casting its influence. As one of the most powerful economies of the world and its position among the do-gooders, there should have been representation from it.
China is also responsible for a good amount of world pollution and GHG emissions. The World leaders are all eager to hear China's addressal. Since the 2019 outbreak of COVID-19 from Wuhan city, Xi Jinping has stepped back from attending any conferences.
