Members will collect electronic debris from homes, businesses, and offices and deposit it at Meenakshi College for Women in Kodambakkam.K. S. Lakshmi, the college's secretary, has designated space for the campaign's e-waste collection, which is being overseen by G. M. Balaji Rathnam.  "We have asked our staff and students to participate in this e-waste collection program," K. S. Lakshmi stated.

Mass Efforts To Collect E-Waste

On January 30, the institution will start a significant collection effort for e-waste on campus. The public can drop off their electronic garbage at the college. In due order, the method will be followed to process the collected e-waste.

The Lions Clubs International founder Melvin Jones was born on January 13, and the e-waste collecting drive was started to honor that date. It will run till February 13. Sangeeta Jatia, a former international director, and A.P. Singh, the third vice-president of Lions Clubs internationally, launched the initiative.

For this effort, Lions Clubs International has joined forces with Hindustan E-Waste Management Private Limited and the National Independent Schools Alliance (NISA).

India alone produced roughly 3.2 million tonnes of electronic garbage in the years 2020–2021, including air conditioners, DVD players, and desktop computers. These seriously endanger the ecology.

The release states that anyone interested in volunteering for the campaign can call Mr. Rathnam at 9840034444.
