A patient from Canada’s British province has been diagnosed with breathing issues suffering from ‘’climate change’’ and recorded as the first patient in the world to get treated for the same.

According to the report published by Canada’s Times Colonist newspaper, the woman was facing breathing difficulty after the recent wildfires in Kootenays triggered her asthma.

The Kootenays region in the British Columbia province has seen over 1,600 wildfires this fiscal year, the BC Wildfire Service website reported.

Dr Kyle Merritt, head of the Kootenay Lake Hospital’s emergency room (ER) department expressed his concern over the increase in such cases and said, “If we’re not looking at the underlying cause, and we’re just treating the symptoms, we’re just gonna keep falling further and further behind.”

The ongoing COP 26 summit has been observed globally and health issues related to climate change effects are in the light. Despite the major commitments from several countries to mitigate climate change, several activists are on the streets of Glasgow protesting against the announcements citing them to be not aggressive enough.
