Consumer insights data highlighted that Delhi stands at the top of the list while Mumbai and Banglore earned second and third spots respectively. The online searches for eco-friendly bags witnessed a surge of 40% in Tier-1 cities and about 60% in Tier-2 cities.
Paper bags were the most popular and contributed to 45 percent of the available eco-friendly alternatives in the market. The demand for paper bags spiked by 67 percent. After the implementation of the single-use plastic ban across the country, Banglore also stopped the usage of the same. He further said, “Institutional buyers across key markets have also shifted to paper, jute, and cotton bags, boosting bag manufacturers and dealers on our platforms.”
