The project involves flying two aircraft, a DC-8 flying laboratory and a Gulfstream jet, over the region to collect data on pollutants. This data will be used to create 3D maps of pollutants and identify their sources. This information is crucial for improving air quality models and forecasting, ultimately leading to more precise public warnings and potentially saving lives.

The project is expected to last for a year, and the results are expected to be released within that timeframe. The results could provide valuable insights into the complex dynamics of air pollution in Asia and potentially contribute to cleaner air for millions of people.
