According to Junagadh municipal commissioner Rajesh Tanna, the team is collecting data to study the impact of climate change on our current infrastructure. They will suggest changes in the current infrastructure like sewage treatment and suggest using more renewable energy sources. They will also provide funds for different projects. In the recent past, Junagadh Municipality installed a bio methanation plant that generates gas that can be further used fuel vehicles. The plant generates 500 kg gas every day.

The cities have been selected because of their immense potential for change in reducing emissions and monitoring future steps to control emissions. Jamnagar municipality commissioner Vijay Kharadi welcomed the initiative. He said they fill focus on solid waste management and drainage. JMC is currently working on converting its buildings and assets for use of solar energy that will save Rs 8 – 10 crores in electricity bills a year. JMC is also engaged in water harvesting in its various plots.
