The chief secretary of Haryana, Sanjeev Kaushal, has directed the formation of coordination committees in each district. These committees will be made up of officials from many departments, including development and panchayats, irrigation and water resources, the HSVP, public health engineering, and municipal corporations.
Their goal is to improve interdepartmental coordination in order to undertake efficient pollution control measures. Kaushal also proposed a restriction on wastewater discharge into drains in Rohtak, Panipat, and Karnal districts.
During a discussion aimed at decreasing pollution from sewerage water, he highlighted the government's action plan to treat and divert about 33 MLD (Million Litres per Day) of sewage generated over 80 villages in Panipat district. He appealed for the work to be completed on time and in a transparent manner. Currently, around 262 km of the projected 328 km sewer lines in Panipat district have been laid, with the remainder scheduled to be completed by December 2024.
