In a significant move towards rural development, the Gujarat government has designated 16 villages across five districts as "Smart Villages." This initiative aligns with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel's vision of harnessing technology and innovation to uplift rural communities.
The chosen villages, spread across Rajkot, Junagadh, Jamnagar, Botad, and Navsari districts, were carefully selected based on their potential for sustainable development. They will serve as model communities, integrating modern amenities like improved road connectivity, sanitation, and street lighting, while preserving the essence of rural life.
To empower these villages, each Gram Panchayat will receive a grant of Rs. 5 lakh. This financial boost will fuel local initiatives and allow communities to spearhead their own development projects tailored to their specific needs. This approach fosters ownership and ensures projects align with the community's vision.
This initiative goes beyond mere infrastructure upgrades. It aims to create "smart" villages that leverage technology for better healthcare, education, and agricultural practices. This could involve initiatives like telemedicine services, e-learning platforms, or smart irrigation systems.
