The officials of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation have reported that they have received more than 2,000 applications to avail E-waste collection service. Through the online portal launched last year in June by SDMC over 900 people have so far successfully managed to submit their electrical waste.
Last year SDMC started this initiative to motivate the civilians to drop off the lying electrical waste in their houses and offices. SDMC has partnered with RBH E-Waste Recycle Hub Pvt Ltd to responsibly dispose of obsolete electrical equipment received.
As per the officials’ statement, RBH collects e-waste from the citizens in exchange for money through an online system and ensures their safe and proper disposal. “The company has paid nearly Rs 81 lakh to purchase unused e-waste till now,” officials added.
