Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy pushed the state's renewable energy agenda forward by launching 12 new APTRANSCO substations and laying the groundwork for 16 more around the state.
The introduction of a substantial solar power endeavor, including a 750 MW project in Kadapa and a 100 MW project in Anantapuram, with a combined investment of Rs.6600 crore, was the main feature. A strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also inked with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) for the construction of solar and wind energy facilities, including a 500 MW solar project, a 500 MW wind project, and a 250 MW PSP plant. This ambitious project is expected to draw a total investment of 10,000 crores and provide employment for 1500 people.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed the government's persistent commitment to provide high-quality power services throughout all regions, dedicating the newly opened substations to local communities. The virtual launch cost 2479 crore and included districts such as Alluri Sitarama Raju, Eluru, Nellore, and Kadapa. Furthermore, a 3400 crore investment has been announced for solar power plants in Kadapa and Anantapuram, which are estimated to employ 1700 people.
In addition, an agreement with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) was revealed, with the goal of producing 17,000 million units of solar power. This plan will provide 13,000 million units to the agricultural sector at a lower rate of $2.49 per unit, greatly reducing the financial load on the state exchequer for farmers' free electricity supply. The Chief Minister emphasized the favorable impact of these actions, emphasizing better transmission capacity and power supply across the state, aiding areas such as Kunavaram, Chintur, VR Puram, and Etipaka in particular.
