Keppel Corporation Limited and AM Green, a Greenko Group subsidiary, have joined forces to advance sustainable fuels such as bio and green methanol, 2G ethanol, and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) as part of their commitment to decarbonize heavy industries and aviation in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed during COP 28 in Dubai, cements their collaboration to find, assess, and co-develop projects aimed at utilizing at least one million tonnes of biogenic carbon dioxide yearly for sustainable fuel production.
In addition to their regional efforts, Keppel and Greenko are investigating potential inside the value chain of an Indian bio-methanol project with an annual output target of 500,000 tons. Biofuels derived from organic resources play an important part in renewable energy, accounting for more than 6% of worldwide energy supply while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Cindy Lim, CEO of Keppel's Infrastructure Division, stressed the significance of biofuels in decarbonizing industrial and aircraft operations. The cooperation seeks to pioneer next-generation biofuels and sustainable aviation fuel in the region by leveraging Keppel's expertise in carbon cycling.
AM Green President Mahesh Kolli expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, picturing India's development as a renewable energy product exporter. The relationship builds on Keppel and Greenko's prior engagement to create a green ammonia production facility in India, which aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ambition for global climate change leadership, as embodied in the LeadIT 2.0 program introduced at COP 28.
